Code of Conduct

General Guidelines

  • The camp is a political gathering. Please follow the instructions of the stewards.
  • Do not photograph or film people without their explicit consent! If someone has not been asked before a recording, the material must be deleted immediately.
  • Participation in political gatherings (like this camp) while intoxicated is generally discouraged. There is a designated consumption area on the campgrounds—please use it if you intend to consume legal substances. We also point out Bavaria’s very restrictive interpretation of the cannabis law.

Organizational Information

  • Before pitching your tent, please go to the info tent to be assigned a spot, as some areas are reserved for specific groups.
  • Please separate your waste properly. If you bring glass bottles to the camp, return them to where you got them.
  • Keep in mind that people may want to sleep between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • In case of emergencies (storms, fire, assault), follow the instructions given by the camp organizers.
  • For medical issues, contact the demo medics.
  • There will be childcare available during the day, but it does not assume legal responsibility for the children.

International Conflicts

  • In the context of international conflicts, a respectful approach toward political opponents is expected from all participants—as long as this is reciprocated. This especially applies to the use of national symbols.
  • Please try to acknowledge the simultaneous suffering of different groups without equating it, and be prepared to tolerate political differences.
  • See our Selbstverständnis.

Discriminatory Behavior

Everyone at the camp should feel as comfortable as possible. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination.

Based on past experiences, we would like to specify:

  • If you’re a man, keep your shirt on. Don’t shout. Keep your eyes and hands to yourself. No means no—only yes means yes.
  • Don’t offer unsolicited advice to people who are working. This applies especially to those facilitating group work.
  • If you’ve worked on past sexist or problematic behavior, that’s good—but don’t brag about it or expect praise.

In Plenaries, Discussions, and Workshops

  • Don’t interrupt.
  • Listen to what others are saying instead of planning your next statement.
  • Step back if you’ve already spoken a lot.
  • Keep it short. Don’t decorate your argument with your life story.
  • Don’t repeat yourself or others, even if you think you can say it better.
  • Clarifying questions and constructive criticism belong in dialogue—not in the plenary.

Violations of the Code of Conduct

If someone violates our core principles, the awareness team will initiate a conversation with them. Depending on the level of protection needed in a given case, the camp organizers will, in consultation with the awareness team, decide on consequences—up to and including exclusion from the camp.

These decisions are not primarily about “punishment” but about promoting different behavior and ensuring the safety of the camp.

For Activists

  • We protect our structures through discretion and by not passing on information carelessly. Please learn and follow the principles that the Rote Hilfe organization has outlined for activist groups, for the safety of us all.
  • Police generally do not enter the assembly area without being accompanied by the camp organizers. If you see otherwise, please inform a steward immediately.

Help us stay independent

Organizing and hosting a camp costs money. Help us stay independent of large donors and be a camp for everyone.
