Our Attitude

Awareness

Awareness means to create a safeR space: All people at the camp should be as comfortable as possible. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination.

Awareness is up to all of us! Awareness is the responsibility of a participants of the camp. We need everyone to be mindful and act together. Additionaly there is a awareness structure during the camp, which sees itself both as awareness-raising role and as a point of contact.

Consent Individual boundaries are to be respect: “No” means “no” - always! And even more important: Only a “yes” means “yes”! Boundaries can change over time - please better ask again!

Partiality & Solidarity We stand in solidarity with those affected by discrimitory acts and take a clear stance in support of emancipatory self-determination.

The Right to Define the Experience & the Power to Impose SanctionsThe right to define the experience and to decide if one’s boundaries have been crossed lies with the individual affected person. The power to impose sanction does not lie with individuals: The awareness team will seek to talk to people who violate our principles. Depending on the needed level of security the camp organizers decides on the consequences (which may include exclusion of the camp) in consultation with the awareness team. The conversations and decisions are not intended to be “punishment”, but to bring about a change in behavior and also to protect the camp as a whole.

Tolerance of Mistakes We all make mistakes - that is normal. However discrimitory behavios will not be tolerated. Try to accept criticism of your behavior as an opportunity and do not relate it to your personality.

Active Support of the Awareness Structure We expect everyone to actively listen to those who claim that they have been treated in an abusive manner.

Drugs If you consume drugs such as alcohol and tobacco, you are ressponsible to ensure that the boundaries of others are not crossed.
