Self-image of the camp organization 2024/25: Adopted without reservations at the plenary session on December 17th, 2024
Attitude - Who are we?
The mobility transition camp is part of the global climate justice movement. The mobility transition camp Munich is a gathering that sees itself as anti-fascist. It serves to network all participating groups and individuals who are committed to opposing the IAA, who want to carry out and attend content and program items at the camp or who want to prepare their own protests.
We, the camp organizers, are an open group motivated by climate justice and bring together experiences from different groups, movements and camps. The organizing people and groups are committed to this self-image in their cooperation and in the direction of the camp, especially when new people join the camp organization.
Objectives
Our overarching goal is a global climate-friendly and social mobility transition, which we can only achieve if we align our coexistence with the needs of all people and nature rather than the profits of a few corporate owners.
We stand for
- a socially just and climate-friendly mobility transition
- a good life for all in a climate-friendly, inclusive and peaceful future
- a world without capitalism and exploitation
Against IAA and car capitalism
The International Motor Show (IAA) is not only a symbol of the capitalist economic system, but also a concrete advertising, organizational and marketing platform for companies and their super-rich owners. They are responsible for exploitation, oppression and climate destruction for their own profit maximization. Therefore, we want to work together to raise awareness of the major problems of the IAA through a variety of protests and educational offerings. We see solidarity within this diversity as our strength and will not allow ourselves to be divided.
We are committed to opposing the automobile exhibition because…
- the IAA’s seizure of public space must stop,
- its self-portrayal as a “mobility exhibition” is pure greenwashing,,
- a truly meaningful mobility transition is only possible if we are guided by the needs of all people and nature.
Against fascism
In a fascist world there can be no just mobility transition or any kind of justice. That is why we position ourselves clearly as anti-fascists and resolutely oppose the AfD and all other actors, whether in parliaments or outside, who actively want to worsen, threaten or destroy the living reality of countless people.
Other topics
At the camp we want to inform people about topics such as the climate catastrophe, racism, colonialism, homophobia, fascism, ableism, patriarchal systems, … and try to make a contribution to combating them. Together we want to make power structures transparent and dismantle them.
Participation
We want to live together with everyone involved in the camp, get to know each other and discuss and try out visions for a better and more sustainable life for everyone. A camp like this can only succeed if all participants can and do participate in solidarity. Basically, we see anti-racist, anti-colonial, queer feminist and anti-fascist practice as a necessary prerequisite for a sustainable mobility transition and future.
Dealing with discrimination
We want to deal with the fact that the camp cannot be a safe space for everyone in an appreciative and learning attitude. Despite this, and for this reason, we want to explore together how we can make the camp more accessible through courageous criticism and action.
In dealing with structural discrimination, we are critically accompanied and supported both in the preparation and in the implementation. We are aware that different forms of discrimination can overlap and exacerbate each other.
We also offer an awareness structure, which is further explained in the [Awareness concept](…).
Our attitude to international conflicts
With regard to international conflicts, the following applies to us:
With regard to reducing it to individual aspects and with regard to legitimate criticism, the following claim should be made within the framework of the Mobiwendecamp: As people not directly affected by the conflict (in terms of trauma and war), we will not express strong opinions and will not pour further fuel on the fire of smoldering geopolitical conflicts. If they are members of the Camporga, the voices of the affected groups must be aware that respectful interaction with political opponents remains necessary as long as this is reciprocated. If this interaction is not carried out, the people concerned can be excluded from the camp.
As Camporga, we are committed to a benevolent and understanding approach at the camp, so that everyone can feel as safe as possible. The complexity of the historical context requires sensitivity from everyone involved in the discourse. One-dimensional simplifications, generalizations and blanket condemnations are not allowed.
1. Israel & Palestine
We recognize the rights of all people to live in peace and freedom equally. We condemn all inhumane actions and attitudes without wanting to equate them or weigh them against each other.
As a predominantly white group, we practice seeing the simultaneous suffering of different groups and tolerating political differences.
To describe the current situation, we look at the development of the assessment of independent international institutions. To assess suspected cases of anti-Semitism in the camp, we use the Jerusalem Declaration on Anti-Semitism: https://www.jerusalemdeclaration.org/wp-content/uploads/JDA-German.pdf
2. Ukraine & Russia
We see the Russian government as the clear aggressor in the Ukraine war. We stand in solidarity with the people who are drawn into the war of aggression and defense by their governments or who experience violence.
3. Kurdistan
We reject the oppression of the Kurdish population. In addition, we show our solidarity with the Kurds who are standing up against the aggression.
4. Geopolitical conflicts that are not given enough attention
We are aware that there are many active and smoldering conflicts around the world, the multitude of which we cannot comment on here. In the end, we are on the side of the people who are oppressed.
Requirements for working in the Camporga
We want to show each other an open, learning and appreciative attitude.
We expect
- a clear positive attitude towards anti-racist, queer feminist, classist and ableist struggles and their intersectionality (interlocking and mutual reinforcement of discrimination).
- a clear attitude towards the abolition of patriarchal systems. In particular, the willingness to regularly take on care work in fair shares.
- Awareness of the fighting terms of the new right (e.g. “gender debate” or “lying press”).
- solid knowledge about Allyship.
- And awareness of other forms of discrimination (see awareness concept: LINK).
- Or the willingness to deal with the points mentioned above.
We regularly offer onboarding sessions where new people are introduced to the way the organization works. Participation is mandatory.
Incompatibility
Participation in the camp organization requires the above attitude.
Explicitly incompatible for us are:
Conspiracy ideologies (e.g. world domination through Jewish involvement, reptilians, chemtrails, corona “deniers”, denial of the climate crisis or other unscientific claims.)
Member of a group that is inhumane and/or actively involved in discrimination.
Organizational structure
We are organized in working groups (AGs) and decide together in the plenary session by consensus (asking for resistance, without the possibility of veto).
Program
The camp offers a platform for political and socially critical education and exchange.
- The educational program is organized decentrally and curated by groups of different orientations.
- The framework is a diverse program with artists and workshops, as well as entertaining and educational program items that enable an exchange between Munich citizens and between people of different backgrounds. - Party advertising or party events of any kind are not allowed.
Donations
We rely on donations to cover the costs of the camp. We try to keep this amount as low as possible through grants and frugal spending. Each person can decide for themselves whether and how much money they can and want to donate to the camp. The donation status will be made transparent at the camp. Attending the camp is possible without paying a fee.
We do not accept donations from the car lobby, large corporations or political parties.
